Program description:
The doctoral school provides high quality education in scientific research. Doctoral candidates are welcome to join the following programs:
• Theoretical foundation and applications of information technology and stochastic systems
• Industrial and scientific applications of informatics
• Discrete mathematics, data processing and visualization
• Theoretical computer science, data security and cryptography
• Information Technology Systems and Networks
• Applied Information Technology and its Theoretical Background

Before applying, students need to find a topic close to their interest from the list announced at doktori.hu/index.php?menuid=116&lang=EN.

Students then need to contact the supervisor of that topic in order to get acceptance from the supervisor. In the application the name of the supervisor who accepted the student has to be mentioned. Entrance exam description:
The professional evaluation of the educational materials (degree, transcripts, results) and the research topic is the task of the relevant Doctoral School. This evaluation is followed by a Skype interview with one of the professors of the Faculty, which aims to check the applicant’s level of motivation, language skills and professional knowledge. (In case of a missing certificate about the English language proficiency we conduct a Skype interview in order to check the applicant’s English language skills.)

Programme structure

During their studies students need to gain 240 credits.
16 credits need to be taken as study credits in the first 2 years by taking subjects. In this period students also need to take at least 104 research credits, and the subject named General Research Methods.
At the end of the 4th semester students take their Complex exam and in the last two years they take only research work credits (120). At the end of the 8th semester students have to start their degree conferment procedure.
Once in each year students need to give a short presentation about their work, and in each semester they write a report about their progress. Students need to show a well-balanced and strong scientific progress during their studies, regularly visit conferences and have at least 2 relevant publications in their topic till the end of their studies (the scientific relevance and impact of the publications are reviewed by our program leaders).
