Overview

The course is designed for those who are able to understand the economic context, organise, manage and implement the market activities of tourism enterprises. Students are able to communicate professionally and effectively in both written and oral form in Hungarian and foreign languages. Students are prepared to continue their studies in a Master’s programme.

The aim of the course is to train business professionals in tourism and catering who speak foreign languages. Students will be able to carry out tasks in the field of tourism and catering, based on their knowledge of economics, social theory, applied methodology and specialised knowledge. They can manage and organise the related work processes, identify and analyse the factors influencing demand, and develop an attractive and experiential offer.

Programme structure

The basic economics subjects that define the sector are complemented by courses in tourism and catering. The specialisations that students can choose are: tourism and hotels; and hospitality and hotels. The 12-week integrated placements take place in the 5th and 8th semesters in the students’ own and external organisations

Professional training can be made based on the curriculum of university 2 terms – at organisations or companies which deal with tourism or catering or – at training hotel or training restaurant belonging to the university of which 1 term can be done abroad.
The professional training is 12 weeks long (480 hours).

Career opportunities

There is a wide range of job opportunities with competitive diplom. Student can find jobs in hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, regional organisations, local governments, museums, and agencies dealing with touristic marketing, or as event organisers. During the course students can make connections with local regional and international organisations. They can also start up their own enterprises, for example in village tourism, marketing, touristic and gastronomical fields.
