Overview

Programme description:
The MSc Timber Industry Engineering Programme is unique to our university in Hungary and aims at the comprehensive utilization of wood and wood based materials: from materials characterization to high value added products and from processing to economic and environmental aspects. The goal of the course is professional training in wood processing and utilization: achieving a high-level theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the technical, environmental and financial aspects of wood utilization and processing, attaining a level of theoretical understanding that, along with the vocational training, enables the graduate to assume an active role in future technical developments, and to further his or her education by entering a PhD programme. Timber industry engineers are welcome in the primary and secondary processing of wood (sawmills, furniture factories, wood construction companies, etc.) in research institutes and universities globally.

BSc degree in a Technic/Technology/Biology related field.

Based on an oral interview (via phone or skype) and degree certificate (type, exams, grades) a recruiting committee desides upon enrollment.

Programme structure

Collect of 120 ECTS from the subjects, including credits of elective subjects.

Basic sciences courses: 20 -36 ECTS
Mathematics, physics, chemistry, electronics, computer aided design

Human and economic modul: 10-20 ECTS
Corporate finance, basic legal studies, management

Core professional modul: 10-30 ECTS
Machine elements, wood utilization, wood protection, environmental protection

Professional elective: 46-60 ECTS
Wood processing, quality control, wood based composites, saw milling technologies, automatics, glueing and finishing, Company management, marketing etc.

Final degree project: 30 ECTS
