Overview

Program description:
The programme is based on the accredited curriculum used at our university for Chemistry MSc studies. It was approved by the European Chemistry Thematic Network Association and the Hungarian Accrediting Committee. After meeting the requirements of the programme, four semesters of theoretical studies complemented by lab practical courses, the students will have an extended knowledge and understanding of the most important experimental and theoretical principles in chemistry, which fit them for employment as professional chemists in chemical and related industries or in public service. They will attain standard chemistry understanding and competences which will give them access to PhD programmes. They will have the ability to communicate their knowledge to specialist and non-specialist audiences and develop learning skills enabling them for continuously updating and renewing their chemistry knowledge.
The length of the programme is 24 months (four semesters). The four-semester theoretical education will contain courses of some mathematics, physics and informatics, all of them geared to the needs of the more demanding physical chemistry, industrial chemistry, analytical chemistry and computational/theoretical chemistry courses of the second semester, while the first semester also contains advanced inorganic, organic and biological chemistry courses. The theoretical education is closely intermingled with related practical courses. From the 2nd semester students must enter into research projects of the groups at the Department and they have to prepare a project work (short-term research in the 2nd semester) and one diploma work during the 3rd and 4th semester (longer-term research). The MSc module is closed with a final examination before the professors of the department.
